3 Dead, Others Injured In Police Chase That Ended In Head-On Crash
The collision on I-10 near Eloy between Phoenix and Tucson has shut down the interstate's eastbound lanes in that area.
ELOY, AZ — A police chase on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson ended in a deadly head-on collision Thursday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Three people are dead and more were injured when they were ejected in the crash, the department said.
I-10 east was still closed late Thursday morning and traffic was being re-routed on the frontage road.

The crash happened around 8:55 a.m. Thursday when an Arizona State Trooper tried to pull over an SUV on I-10 west, and the SUV kept going, the department said.
The trooper continue to pursue the SUV, which eventually crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and hit a semi truck head-on at milepost 214 near Eloy, according to the department.

There were eight people in the SUV at the time of the crash. Two of them died at the scene and a third was pronounced dead at a local hospital. It wasn't immediately clear how many others were ejected and transported to local hospitals for treatment.
