Echo Canyon Trail reopens on Camelback Mountain after storm repairs (azcentral.com) — Echo Canyon Trail on Camelback Mountain is back open to hikers after weeks of storm-related safety repairs by the city of Phoenix, though crews may still be finishing cable and rope upgrades. The city also notes that Phoenix just recorded its wettest meteorological fall ever, with more than triple the usual rainfall measured at Sky Harbor.
   

2. Weekend wrap: Biggest Arizona news stories from Dec. 12-14 (ktar.com) — Phoenix drivers should know eastbound I-10 near the South Mountain Loop 202 has reopened after a crash that shut it down for hours. The weekend roundup also highlights a higher speed limit on State Route 24, Buc-ee’s upcoming Goodyear opening, a deadly Mesa crash, and NXP’s plan to close a Chandler facility.

Phoenix Police are investigating and urging anyone who spots the car to contact them, while friends have launched a GoFundMe to help the family recover.

Phoenix Jewish community stays strong to celebrate Hanukkah following Sydney attack (azfamily.com) — Downtown Phoenix’s Jewish community gathered for a Hanukkah celebration marked by extra security and a message of resilience after a deadly attack at a Sydney Hanukkah event. Local Rabbi Dovber Dechter honored a slain colleague’s memory, while Mayor Kate Gallego joined to light the menorah and urge residents to stand against hate and build more understanding.
   

5. Suspect arrested, teen critically hurt after shooting in Gilbert (azfamily.com) — A 16-year-old boy was critically injured in a Saturday night shooting at a Gilbert home, and the suspect was later found in Phoenix during an unrelated police incident and taken into custody. Gilbert police say 21-year-old Rael Sanchez allegedly shot the teen before driving off, and he’s now jailed on attempted second-degree murder charges as investigators continue their work.
