PHOENIX, AZ — A line of strong thunderstorms is slowly moving toward the southwest from Yavapai County, and could impact the Valley Friday night.

The storms, which are centered around Interstate 17 near Camp Verde, are capable of producing strong winds and heavy rain, the National Weather Service said.

The Phoenix are has between a 30-50 percent chance of rain through Friday night, according to the service.

Areas around Phoenix have received between a trace and 1.92 inches of rain over the course of the last week, according to Maricopa County's rainfall tracker.

The Valley typically gets around an inch of rain in July, meaning the area is on pace for an above-average month, precipitation wise.

Phoenix has a 40 percent chance of rain on Saturday, before dipping down to 30 percent on Sunday, the service's forecast predicts.
