Christmas Day 2021 Things To Do Open In The Phoenix Area
If you don't have plans for a holiday gathering, or you want to get out of the house with the family, here are some options.
PHOENIX, AZ — If you're in the Valley and don't have plans for Christmas Day or you're tired of being holed up at home, there a several activity options in the Phoenix metro area.
Hiking is always a good way to get your heart pumping, but that might not be a good option if the Valley gets as much rain as the National Weather Service says is possible. Here's our list of some of the best hikes across the Valley for various ability levels, just in case the rain lets up or you're willing to brave the elements.

Bowling With Santa
- When: 3-5 p.m., Christmas Day
- Where: Mavrix, 9139 Talking Stick Way, Scottsdale
- What: Kids and families get a chance to bowl with Santa. The venue will be decorated for the season with red and green lights on the lanes and dancing white snowflakes.
Light on Christmas: Yoga & Sound Bath
- When: 9-10:30 a.m., Christmas Day
- Where: Spirit of Yoga, 1420 E. Southern Ave., Tempe
- What: Celebrate "Light on Christmas" with yoga and listening to the vibrations of crystal quartz and Himalayan singing bowls, gong, tuning forks and other instruments. The class is free and for all levels with a focus on light and love.
NBA on Christmas Day
- When: 3 p.m., Christmas Day
- Where: Footprint Center, 201 E. Jefferson St., Phoenix
- What: The Phoenix Suns have a long history of playing on Christmas Day, having done so 18 times since their founding in 1968. This Saturday, they'll face off against the Golden State Warriors.
OdySea Aquarium
- When: 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Christmas Day
- Where: OdySea Aquarium, 9500 Via De Ventura, Scottsdale
- What: The OdySea Aquarium has more than 70 exhibits in 200,000 square feet of space to explore. More than 6,000 animals from 300 species call the aquarium home.
Butterfly Wonderland
- When: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Christmas Day (Last tickets sold at 4 p.m.)
- Where: Butterfly Wonderland, 9500 E. Via de Ventura, Scottsdale
- What: Butterfly Wonderland sets out to make visitors feel like they're in the rainforest by introducing them to the world of butterflies and other rainforest animals. You can learn about Monarch migration and watch live chrysalis as they emerge, transformed into butterflies.
