  3. Phoenix officials stated that Camelback Mountain’s Echo and Cholla trails, and all trails associated with Piestewa Peak Trailhead in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, will be closed this summer on days when the National Weather Service issues excessive heat warnings. When a warning is issued, these popular hiking trails will close between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Phoenix park rangers will be on duty to notify visitors of the restrictions. Closures will also be posted on the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department website, social media accounts, and websites of nearby resorts and hotels. (Daily Independent)

A house fire led to the displacement of eleven people and six dogs near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road in Central Phoenix on Saturday morning around 10:15 a.m. The cause of the fire is unknown, according to the firefighters, and is being looked into. The family did report hearing a "loud popping noise" coming from the house's back extension. According to officials, neighbors assisted in getting the family and dogs to safety.
