Man Charged In 3 Armed Robberies In Phoenix

Trey Waters, 29, was charged with 10 felonies in connection with three armed robberies across Phoenix between April 12 and May 9.

PHOENIX, AZ — A man was charged with 10 felonies in connection with three armed robberies, including two in which victims were shot, Phoenix police said.

Trey Waters, 29, was charged with five counts of aggravated assault, three counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, one count of attempted murder and one count of kidnapping, police said.

No one was killed in the three robberies. Two men suffered injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to serious; a woman suffered critical injuries, according to police.

If convicted on the armed robbery charges, Waters faces between 14 and 28 years in prison for each count. If convicted on the attempted murder charge, Waters faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Waters is currently being held on $100,000 bail at an undisclosed location.

The three robberies occurred between April 12 and May 9. In the first, Waters is accused of hitting a man with his firearm before shooting him in the neck at a motel near west Thunderbird Road and north 51st Avenue, police said.

In a second incident, police accused Waters of robbing an ice cream truck driver at gunpoint, striking the victim in the face with his gun and then pointing it at a customer just before 2 p.m. on April 25 near South Mountain Avenue and south 24th Street.

The third incident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on May 9 near 40th Street and Southern Avenue, in which police accused Waters of shooting a female cashier once during an armed robbery attempt and shooting the victim again as she lay on the ground, police said.
