One Man Dead In Police Shooting In Chandler: Police

The man, who was accused of riding a stolen motorcycle, was shot in Chandler by Mesa police. Chandler police are investigating.

CHANDLER, AZ — Mesa police shot and killed a man Tuesday night in Chandler, according to the Chandler Police Department.

The man who was killed has not been publicly identified.

Mesa police officers were trying to stop the man while he was suspected of riding a stolen motorcycle, Chandler police said. The man, who was riding on Ray Road, fled and was tracked using the Mesa Police helicopter to a neighborhood near the intersection of Ithaca and Detroit streets.

When Mesa police found the man, they accused him of showing a gun, Chandler police said. That's when Mesa police shot him, according to police. No officers were injured.

The Chandler Police Department is investigating the shooting.
