SAFE Alert issued for missing 68-year-old Phoenix man (ktar.com) — A SAFE Alert is active for 68-year-old Phoenix resident Raymond Ray, last seen Saturday around 8 p.m. near 37th Street and McDowell Road in a manual wheelchair. Phoenix police say he may be disoriented and urge anyone with information to call the Missing Persons Unit at 602-534-2121 or 911 immediately.

Downtown Phoenix shooting injures 4, inmate killed following altercation (fox10phoenix.com) — Four people were hurt in a downtown Phoenix shooting overnight, including a man with life-threatening injuries, while three women are expected to recover. The roundup also covers an inmate’s death after an altercation at Lewis Prison in Buckeye, a separate officer-involved incident, and how new return fees at major retailers could hit Phoenix shoppers’ wallets.

Holiday travel surge brings flight delays to Phoenix Sky Harbor (azfamily.com) — If you’re flying through Phoenix Sky Harbor, expect lingering delays after Sunday’s holiday travel peak, with nearly 500 flights delayed and some cancellations tied to nationwide weather. TSA lines in Terminal 4 remained relatively quick, and the rush is forecast to continue through January 1 as a record number of Americans take to the skies.

Phoenix Zoo announces name for newly born giraffe (kjzz.org) — Phoenix families have a new baby Masai giraffe to meet soon: the Phoenix Zoo’s latest calf has been named Kasi, meaning “speed” in Swahili. She’s currently bonding with mom Sunshine behind the scenes while keepers baby‑proof the savannah habitat, and staff say her energetic personality is a hopeful boost for endangered-giraffe conservation efforts.

5. DUI suspect arrested after freeway crash in east Phoenix (azfamily.com) — A suspected impaired driver was arrested after allegedly rear-ending another vehicle on Loop 202 in east Phoenix, causing it to spin out but leaving everyone uninjured. State troopers say the Porsche driver showed signs of impairment, refused a breath test, and had an outstanding DUI warrant from Phoenix before being booked into Maricopa County jail.
