Pedestrian Dies After SUV Hits Her In North Phoenix: Police

The pedestrian was crossing near 17th Avenue and Bell Road when the SUV hit her Thursday night, according to police.

PHOENIX, AZ — A pedestrian was killed Thursday night after an SUV hit her as she crossed the road near the intersection of 17th Avenue and Bell Road, according to Phoenix police.

The woman, who was in her mid-50s, was crossing Bell Road mid-block around 8:45 p.m. when the SUV hit her, police said.

When police arrived on scene, they found the woman laying on the road, with obvious signs of trauma. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The man driving the SUV was not injured and stayed at the scene, police said.
