Phoenix Councilwoman: 54.1% Of Residents Completed 2020 Census

Phoenix residents can still complete the 2020 Census by mail, by phone or online.

PHOENIX, AZ — As of Thursday, 54.1 percent of Phoenix's households had responded to the 2020 Census, councilwoman Thelda Williams said in a statement. The number of responses outpaces the state's rate of 52.6 percent.

Across the nation, some 55.6 households responded, beating out both Phoenix and the state of New Jersey in responses.

According to Williams' statement, the highest rate of responses in Phoenix was the Ahwatukee area, which had a 78.7 response rate.

Williams said the 2020 census informs how some $675 billion in federal funding for community services will be spent in the city over the next 10 years and how $866 million will be spent annually in Phoenix.

"These vital funds are used for programs and services including libraries, transportation, education, public health, Head Start, senior services, housing, arts and culture and more," she said.
