Phoenix Flyover: WWII Planes To Cruise Metro Friday
Here's a map of the planes' Friday route.
PHOENIX, AZ — Historic planes from World War II will fly around the Phoenix/Mesa/Glendale area this Friday in a show of support for capital city businesses and in memory of the 75th anniversary of the end of the second world war.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, a B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-25 Mitchell Bomber and a C-47 Skytrain will depart from Falcon Field in Mesa, the Commemorative Air Force Airbase Arizona said in a news release. All three planes flew in service during WWII.
Once the planes depart from the air base, they will head west over central Mesa, then to Tempe, Phoenix and the West Valley. The planes will then move north to Scottsdale, Fountain Hills and Gold Canyon before returning to base.

The CAF Airbase Arizona said the planes might reappear this September in the Washington, DC, National Arsenal of Democracy flyover if cases of the new coronavirus continue to decline.
"We look forward to making a great, patriotic roar in the sky for the enjoyment of Arizonans on May 8th," the airbase said.
