Phoenix High Pollution Advisory For Friday, Aug. 2

The ADEQ has issued the Phoenix area a High Pollution Advisory for Friday, Aug. 2, identifying ozone as the reason.

PHOENIX, AZ — A High Pollution Advisory (HPA) is in effect for the Phoenix area on Friday, Aug. 2, with ozone as the culprit. Ozone results when nitrogen oxides (NOx) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) react in sunlight. Vehicles are a primary source of ozone, with paints and solvents, power plants and industry as co-contributors. Those with heart disease, older adults, children, adults exercising outdoors and those with respiratory conditions are most vulnerable to ozone.

However, Phoenix area residents can take some tips under advisement to make HPA warnings less frequent.
