Phoenix Named 10th Best City In U.S. For Stoners In 2022

Phoenix ranked high on Real Estate Witch's list because of residents' passion for pot as well as the number of Taco Bells per capita.

PHOENIX, AZ — Even though recreational legalization happened just over a year ago in Arizona, Phoenix has already been been named the No. 10 best city in the U.S. for marijuana users on a list recently published by Real Estate Witch.

Phoenix was ranked No. 10 on the list in part because of its residents' passion for cannabis, with Phoenicians 85 percent more likely to search Google for weed-related terms than the average city included in Witch's research. Phoenix also ranked high for having 8 percent more Taco Bells than the average city, at 2.5 per 100,000 residents, providing ample opportunities for stoners to cheaply satisfy late-night munchies.

Phoenix also received a high ranking for its abundant hiking trails — with 241 — more than any other city on the list. However, your author advises against Witch's recommendation of toking on the trail in Phoenix because of the high fire danger that comes with sparks or fire of any kind near dry brush that often borders local hiking trails. Instead, try eating an edible, or waiting to indulge after your hike, especially since Phoenix is known for its difficult trails with steep drop offs that could be dangerous for those under the influence.

The No. 1 city on the list was Denver, followed by Portland, Sacramento and Las Vegas. Several other California cities also made the list.

The cost of an average high-grade ounce of recreational marijuana in Phoenix was $292, more than any other city in the top 10, except for Los Angeles, which ranked at No. 9.

Additional factors in determining the rankings included whether marijuana was legalized for recreational use, the cost of 1 ounce of marijuana as a percentage of annual local income and the number of head shops within 25 miles, per 100,000 residents.

Real Estate Witch, founded in 2016, describes itself as, "committed to demystifying the real estate industry and increasing transparency for consumers."
