Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:
- As summer approaches and the risk for skin cancer increases, a Phoenix tattoo artist is helping clients identify signs of cancer on their bodies. Josh Gargalione, who has been tattooing for 21 years, checks every client that comes into his shop for any irregular patches on their skin, as both his grandfather and father dealt with melanoma skin cancer. Experts say the best ways to prevent skin cancer are wearing long breathable clothes and a hat, using mineral-based sunscreens with 35-40 SPF, and applying about a shot glass full of sunscreen to the entire body. - The Jonas Brothers have announced a concert in Phoenix as part of their nationwide tour in September, which includes performances of their five albums every night. The Phoenix show will take place at the Footprint Center on Wednesday, Sep. 6. General sale tickets will be available on May 12 at 10:00 a.m. local time, while Verified Fan presale begins on May 9. Citi and Verizon presales for select shows start May 10 at 10:00 a.m. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
- A Phoenix mother has been arrested and charged with unlawful imprisonment after chaining her son to a bed for six to seven hours. According to court documents, 33-year-old Meilin Maradiaga and her son got into an argument in their home near 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street over money for fentanyl pills, with the son threatening to harm his siblings if she didn't give him the money. The mother claimed she restrained her son for his safety and the safety of the family, as she feared he might harm himself or others, according to police. (Arizona's Family)
