PHOENIX, AZ – Around 3 p.m. Friday, staff at the HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center on N. 27th Ave. called Phoenix police when a hospital patient died immediately after a visit from a man described as “suspicious.” The staff reported to the authorities that a man wearing blue jeans, a white cap and a multi-colored T-shirt said he had come to visit the victim, 41-year-old Brandon Werner.

The suspicious man stayed in Werner's room a short time. Then, within seconds of him leaving Werner’s room, nurses found Werner unresponsive and foaming from the mouth. Hospital staff immediately tried to save Werner by performing emergency lifesaving actions, but he died anyway.

The medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of Werner’s death, and police continue to investigate.
