Here are the top 3 stories in Phoenix today:
- The city of Phoenix and Valley Metro have started the process of developing new transit routes for light rail and bus rapid transit in the West Valley. By the end of the year, the alternative analysis study that was initiated in 2022 to find a route through Maryvale out west to the Loop 101 to suit the people of Maryvale Village and the rapidly expanding area, will be finished. The area being studied spans from Central Avenue to 99th Avenue and from Camelback Road to McDowell Road near Interstate 10 and the West Valley cities of Tolleson, Avondale, and Glendale. (KTAR.com)
- Homicide detectives are investigating a case in which a woman was found dead in a desert area of Phoenix on Saturday morning around 10:50 a.m. Police officers received a call about an injured person near Mayo Boulevard and Scottsdale Road, just a few minutes away from the Mayo Clinic hospital. Once officers and firefighters arrived, they discovered an adult female victim outside of a nearby neighborhood. Neither the victim nor a suspect have been identified. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
- Phoenix police have posted photos and need the public's help to identify a woman they claim is one of seven sexual assault victims. Investigators are concerned for the woman's safety and hope someone will recognize the two necklaces that were worn by the victim so that they can identify her. The search is in connection with a June 2022 investigation of an extremely violent sexual assault, and evidence at the time indicated that it may be related to another police case. Tyler Munguia, a 25-year-old suspect, was detained in relation to the two crimes. Anyone with information about the seventh woman’s identity or anything associated with this case is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department or call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
