Tempe Teacher Suspected Of Sexually Abusing Student: Police
The Mountain Pointe High School teacher was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse, according to police.
TEMPE, AZ — A teacher at Mountain Pointe High School has been accused of sexually abusing one of his students, according to a report from ABC 15.
Mohamed Elnounw was arrested April 7 on suspicion of six counts of sexual abuse, according to court documents.
The principal at Mountain Pointe High School, part of the Tempe Union School District, emailed parents to let them know that a teacher was being investigated after school officials learned of the accusations of inappropriate contact between Elnounw and a 17-year-old student, 12 News reported.

Elnounw has not been on campus since April 7, Mountain Pointe Principal Tomika Banks said in a statement obtained by ABC 15.
The student reported to police that they had an inappropriate relationship with Elnounw that started when the student shared their personal problems with the teacher, according to court documents.

The student also told police that Elnounw began acting jealous and aggressive when the student tried to end the relationship with him, according to court documents.
A media representative for Tempe Union High School District told Patch she couldn't comment on the situation because it was under active investigation by Phoenix police.
