Two Fatal Shootings Happen Within 10 Minute Span In Phoenix

Two shootings that left an 18-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man dead happened within minutes of one another early Sunday morning.

PHOENIX, AZ — A woman and a man were shot within an approximately 10 minute span early Sunday morning in apparently unrelated shootings, according to Phoenix police.

Michael Miles, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene where he was shot and Riann Curry, 18, taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

Miles was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 1:50 a.m. Sunday in an apartment complex courtyard near Claremont Street and Black Canyon Highway, police said.

Police could not find anyone who witnessed the shooting, they said, so they didn't have any descriptions of the shooter to share with the public.

Curry was shot around 2 a.m. at Lindo Park near 19th Avenue and Roeser Road, but police found her, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near 35th Avenue and Lincoln Street, police said.

After she was shot at the park, the people inside the vehicle with her started to drive her to a hospital but then decided to stop and call for help, according to police. Although there were witnesses to the shooting, police did not release a description of the suspected shooter.
