Wet Christmas Weekend Likely In The Phoenix Area: NWS

There's a good chance of rain in the Valley on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the National Weather Service.

PHOENIX, AZ — A wet Christmas might be in store for the Phoenix area, according to the National Weather Service.

A 40 percent chance of rain begins Thursday night, with the best chance of rain on Christmas Eve at 70 percent. There's a continuing 50 percent chance of rain on Christmas Day and a 40 percent chance that night, according to the weather service forecast.

Phoenix's Christmas rainfall record was made in 1994, with .63 inches.

There's an expected high of 74 degrees Thursday, with things cooling off along with the rain Friday and Saturday, with expected highs of 67 and 66 degrees, respectively. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, after a slight chance of morning rain, with a chilly high of 62 degrees.
