Falling on the last Monday of May each year, Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. It's a federal holiday that many people get off from work, resulting in a three-day weekend.
This year, Memorial Day falls on May 27, and for many, this holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. We've rounded up some things to do Memorial Day Weekend in and around Phoenix. Please note: We recommend calling ahead to confirm the hours and access before you head out the door.
Repticon
When: Saturday, May 25 - 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 26 - 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Where: Mesa Convention Center, 263 N Center St., Mesa, AZ 85201
What: Repticon is a reptile and exotic animal expo that brings together enthusiasts, breeders and vendors from across the region. Repticon also offers educational seminars, interactive exhibits and opportunities to meet and learn from experts in the field of herpetology.

Memorial Day Weekend Pool Party
When: Saturday, May 25 - 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 26 - 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Where: SkySill Rooftop Lounge, 11 East 7th St., Tempe, AZ 85281
What: Get ready to kick off the weekend in style at SkySill Rooftop Lounge! This pool party extravaganza will feature live DJ sets, an Americana hot dog menu and Tito's Handmade Vodka drink specials. Tickets are $15/person and include one cocktail each.
2024 Memorial Day Hike
When: Monday, May 27 - 7:00 a.m.
Where: Thunderbird Conservation Park-Parking Lot, Glendale, AZ 85310
What: Meeting at 7:00 a.m., this annual Memorial Day hike is a moderate hike culminating with a short ceremony at the peak to honor fallen warriors. All are welcome, including dogs and children, but political paraphernalia is discouraged. Come together as American citizens to honor military heroes, and feel free to bring service pride gear.

Memorial Day: Grill At The Mill
When: Monday, May 27 - 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Where: Queen Creek Olive Mill, 25062 S Meridian Rd., Queen Creek, AZ 85142
What: Head over to Queen Creek Olive Mill on Memorial Day for live music, grill-inspired menus, games in the grove and more for a fun-filled gathering. Admission is free, and no RSVP is required.
