The ratings were derived from various sources: A Niche survey of parents and students about health and safety weighted at 50 percent of total scores. Other survey metrics include Expenses Per Student and Student Absenteeism, derived from the National Center for Education Statistics and the Civil Rights Data Collection respectively; they were weighted at 10 percent each. The remainder of the data was also sourced from the Civil Rights Data Collection, with In-school and Out-of-school Suspensions metrics each weighted at 7.5 percent of the total score.
