Will Arizona Make Bid To Host Republican National Convention?
Trump needs a new location for the 2020 Republican National Convention, and Phoenix congresswoman suggests the Arizona Cardinals Stadium.

PHOENIX — President Donald Trump says he's moving the Republican National Convention, and Congresswoman Debbie Lesko thinks it should be in Arizona.
When the congresswoman from Arizona's 8th Congressional District saw the news that Trump was moving the Republican National Convention, Lesko was quick to suggest the University of Phoenix Stadium, home to the Arizona Cardinals.
North Carolina was expected to be a swing state in the 2020 presidential election when the Republican National Committee decided in July 2018 to hold its convention in Charlotte in August.

Unlike the NC Governor, I'm ready to welcome the RNC to AZ! @AZCardinals Stadium in my district would be the perfect place to kick off a Trump Victory in 2020. Lots of sunshine, great views, wonderful people. What do you think @GOPChairwoman,@GOP, @realDonaldTrump? #RNCinAZ https://t.co/lT6iBdu8ZK

Trump tweeted Tuesday night that he is pulling the convention from Charlotte after North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, "and his representatives refuse to guarantee that we can have use of the Spectrum Arena — spend millions of dollars, have everybody arrive, and then tell them they will not be able to gain entry,"
Cooper, said Tuesday that protecting public health during the pandemic is a priority and said it's "unfortunate" that the Republican National Committee "never agreed to scale down and make changes to keep people safe."

On Tuesday Gov. Roy Cooper officially rejected the Republican Party's plans, and they have moved on to considering other possible locations.
Had long planned to have the Republican National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, a place I love. Now, @NC_Governor Roy Cooper and his representatives refuse to guarantee that we can have use of the Spectrum Arena - Spend millions of dollars, have everybody arrive, and...

Around the same time that Trump started to consider new locations for the convention in May, polls in Arizona showed that both Sen. Martha McSally and Trump were both falling behind their democratic counterparts for the 2020 election.
Arizona has never hosted a Republican National Convention.
