Woman Shot To Death, Man Barricades Himself In House In Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ — A woman was shot to death and found laying in front of a house and a man then barricaded himself inside the house for several hours Thursday evening in Phoenix, according to police.

Amy Malobicky, 54, was found around 5:20 p.m. Thursday laying motionless in front of a house near 38th Street and Shea Boulevard, police said. She had suffered obvious trauma, according to police. Malobicky was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 44-year-old man was inside the house and refused to come outside, police said. He barricaded himself inside the home for several hours, according to police.

He was ultimately taken into custody by police after a police K-9 was sent into the home, police said. The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained while he was being taken into custody, according to police.

Police did not publicly identify the man or point to any charges filed against him but said that Malobicky's death was being investigated as a homicide.
