  1. As most residents know, the water situation is growing ever worse. Scottsdale gets 15 percent of its water supply from Verde River — and it's shrinking. The city joined a study to determine if raising the Bartlett Dam on the Verde by either 62 feet or 97 feet is feasible. And, if feasible, if it would solve the problem. Given that sediment buildup at Horseshoe Dam upstream is the main cause of diminishing reservoir capacity. Scottsdale dedicated $300,000 to this problem. (Scottsdale Progress)
  2. The USS Arizona Memorial Gardens at Salt River, in Scottsdale, was announced by the Engineering News-Record Southwest as the winner of Best Project in the Landscape/Urban Development category. This is the second time J2 Engineering and Environmental Design have been recognized for the USS Arizona Memorial Gardens. (O’ODHAM ACTION NEWS)
  3. Scottsdale is getting a new theater! Landmark Theatres will open in the Scottsdale Quarter this fall with eight screens, a bar, and a gourmet concession stand. Landmark will be located where iPic theaters stood until its closure in January 2020. (Scottsdale Progress)
  4. Hush Public House's top chef, Dom Ruggiero, opened up a new joint right next door: The Vanilla Gorilla. The craft beer bar and bottle shop is located in an area of Scottsdale without much in the way of craft beers, and offers tastes from Arizona's top breweries. While Ruggiero prepares top-of-the-line snacks at Hush, his wife, Holly Ruggiero, will be catering to the customers of The Vanilla Gorilla. (Phoenix New Times)
  5. With two Valley locations already, Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill has an announcement Scottsdale residents will be excited to hear: A new concept will be opening at Hayden Peak Crossing! The new concept, known as Ling’s Wok Shop, opens Monday and will operate as fast-dining for lunch, and a full service at dinner. (KTAR.com)
