Here are the top three stories today in Scottsdale:
- The Scottsdale Larsen Art Auction is presenting an estimated 400 lots this year. The auction is the premier leader of the secondary art market. The auction will be on Saturday, Oct. 22. The most notable work for sale is an Andy Warhol self-portrait conceived in 1964. (Daily Independent)
- Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs held a press conference at Scottsdale City Hall on Thursday morning. The candidate cast her ballot after the press conference by dropping it off at City Hall. Photos from the conference can be viewed at the link. (The Arizona Republic)
- Earlier this month, a horse was rescued after getting stuck in a canal on the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community next to Scottsdale. On Jul. 9, Salt River Project water master Kristen Keim noticed the horse standing in waist-deep water, and only realized it was stuck after returning to the area later and finding the horse still there. Keim called a colleague to help get the horse out of the canal using a rope, pole, and ramp. In light of this incident, SRP reminds the community not to get in canal water for any reason, as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, and tubing are prohibited and potentially dangerous.
