Huge Scottsdale Old Town project approved (scottsdale.org) — A major new mixed-use Scottsdale City Center project at Scottsdale and Camelback is moving forward after unanimous Development Review Board approval, adding 138 housing units and 35,000 square feet of commercial space. As part of the long-debated Scottsdale Collection, the 14-story buildings and public plaza will further transform Old Town’s north end and intensify discussion over height, character, and Scottsdale’s Western feel.
   

2. As holiday package theft rises, Arizona Police share prevention tips (azcentral.com) — Scottsdale police are warning residents to be extra vigilant about package theft, mail theft, and vehicle break-ins as holiday deliveries surge across the Valley. Officers share practical tips like tracking packages closely, using secure delivery options, and keeping shopping bags out of sight in cars to reduce crimes of opportunity. These precautions are especially important for Scottsdale households expecting frequent deliveries this week.
   

3. Rockies prospect Braylen Wimmer, back in the cage after brain surgery, eyes continued ascent in 2026 (denverpost.com) — Scottsdale baseball fans may see Rockies prospect Braylen Wimmer back in town for 2026 spring training, just months after brain surgery following a seizure here during the Arizona Fall League. The 24-year-old infielder is already hitting, lifting, and eyeing a return to the same Scottsdale fields where his medical ordeal began.
   

4. Cottonwood police recognizes two graduates (journalaz.com) — A regional leadership program hosted by Scottsdale Police brought together civilian staff from agencies across Arizona, including Cottonwood, Phoenix, Mesa, Surprise, Buckeye, and Scottsdale itself. Cottonwood’s Ely Bayne and Kelsey Jacobs have now graduated the Civilian Leadership Institute, a five‑month course sharpening communication, conflict management, and supervisory skills. Their department says the Scottsdale-based training will help them better serve their community.
