Here are the top three stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. The University of Northern Colorado has released its 2021-2022 dean's list and a number of Scottsdale students are on it. To be listed on the prestigious list, a student must earn a combined GPA of 3.5 to 3.74 during at least two semesters with 24 hours completed. Scottsdale's Sarah Ausloos, Haley Boxwell, Grace Napoletano, and AJ Tennessen made the list. (Daily Independent)
  2. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has lifted its masking recommendation for Maricopa County residents. The decision is due to the county being listed as a "low" COVID-19 community level. The county has been listed as a "high" level since Jul. 14. There are still several counties in Arizona that are listed as "high." (AZ Central)
  3. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is urging residents to practice extreme caution at lakes. According to the department, more than 10 drownings have occurred this year at Lake Pleasant. Lake goers are asked to wear life jackets. If a monsoon storm occurs while on the lake, find shelter in one of the coves. (AZ Family)
