  1. Rio Verde Foothills residents recently filed a lawsuit against the City of Scottsdale for cutting off the water supply to 500 homes in Rio Verde. Scottsdale had been warning about the cut-off for more than a year before following through at the beginning of 2023. (12news.com KPNX)
  2. Sen. John Kavanagh, the state lawmaker of Scottsdale, proposed a new law that would bar schools from referring to students by pronouns that don't match their biological sex. The law would apply even if the student prefers other pronouns unless the employee gets parental permission. (East Valley Tribune)
  3. The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art will be hosting a new series of self-care and wellness programs in the Phillip K. Smith III: Three Parallels exhibition. The programs will feature sound baths, medication, and mindful movement led by skilled practitioners. (Subscription: Daily Independent)

  • Scottsdale will be getting a new inclusive playground soon. Construction recently began on the playground at Thompson Peak Park to update the play area to be accessible for people of all abilities. Construction should wrap up sometime in February.   • During Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon will be running through town. With all the events, Valley Metro Transit services will run a special schedule in Scottsdale from Jan. 14-16. Please plan accordingly! (City of Scottsdale - Government via Facebook)
