Here are the top three stories today in Scottsdale:
- Residents of the Rio Verde Foothills community took to Scottsdale City Hall to protest the city cutting off water to the neighborhood at the start of this year. Scottsdale ended its supply of water to the community due to the drought. The protest coincided with the Scottsdale City Council's first meeting of the year. (Arizona's Family)
- Former University of Arizona and NFL player Rob Gronkowski will host a party and music festival at a Scottsdale resort the day before the Super Bowl LVII. The Gronk Beach event will be held on Feb. 11 at the Talking Stick Resort and include performances from Grammy Award winners Rapper 21 Savage, DJ Diplo, and Lil Jon. (KTAR)
- The Radford Racing School and the Petersen Automotive Museum will partner for the 2023 Petersen to Scottsdale Rally that will run on Jan. 26-30. Rally participants will start at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles and head to the Chandler racing school to explore the facility and track before ending at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction here in Scottsdale. - If you have unwanted or old documents to get rid of, Shred It Day is this Saturday, 7:00-10:00 a.m. For $5 for each box or grocery bag of documents, you can dispose of sensitive documents to help keep yourself safe from identity theft and recycle old papers. The event will take place at the Scottsdale Walmart, and all proceeds will go to Copper Button Ridge Blazers of AZ. (Scottsdale Police Department via Facebook)
- The holidays are always a great time to give back; this year saw the community giving back more than ever! Nearly 600 families and seniors were sponsored by 400 generous community sponsors to receive Thanksgiving meals and gifts.
