5-Year-Old Killed, 2 Others Injured In Drive-By Shooting

The shooting happened at around 11:45 p.m Friday near 48th Street and Broadway Road in Tempe.

TEMPE, AZ — A 5-year-old was killed and two other juveniles were hurt in a drive-by shooting in Tempe Friday night.

Police said the shooting happened at around 11:45 p.m. when a vehicle, with one adults and six children as passengers inside, was headed east near 48th Street and Broadway Road when another vehicle pulled up alongside it, CNN is reporting. A person in the second vehicle began shooting at the first vehicle, hitting several children.

Three children between the ages of 5 and 17 years old were taken to the hospital, and the 5-year-old child was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The other two children were in critical condition but are expected to survive, according to Fox 10 Phoenix. Authorities are still looking for the suspects in the shooting, and it's unclear at this point what happened prior to the shooting.
