Annual Halloween Stroll Will Return To Downtown Tempe
Tempe's third annual Halloween Stroll event will return to Mill Avenue amid the coronavirus pandemic, with some differences.
TEMPE, AZ — The annual Halloween Stroll will return to the streets of downtown Tempe amid the coronavirus pandemic, though there will be some changes from years past.
The free event will take place from 12 - 5 p.m. on Oct. 25 and will take place entirely outdoors to allow for proper social distancing.
“We love to host these smaller activations that bring families to downtown Tempe,” Kate Borders, Executive Director of the Downtown Tempe Authority, said. “It’s important to create safe, family-friendly events that support our merchants and give families something fun to do in an open-air environment.”

Families can trick-or-treat, as downtown shop owners will be handing out candy. But this year's costume contest will be virtual. Guests can enter to win in six categories: cutest, most scary, most creative, best group, best pair and best pet. Three winners will be chosen for each category and will be announced on the Downtown Tempe Instagram no later than Oct. 30.
There will be no games or crafts this year, but a self-serve photo booth will be set up on 4th Street and Mill Avenue. Event merchants will be adhering to Centers for Disease Control guidelines. A full merchant list will be available on the event's website.
