ASU Hoops Coach Bobby Hurley Suspended Monday Night, Fined $20K
Hurley and sophomore guard Jay Health will miss the game at USC after confronting referees after Saturday's 79-76 loss at Stanford.

TEMPE, AZ —When the Arizona State men's basketball team visits the University of Southern California Monday night, the Sun Devils will be without head coach Bobby Hurley and sophomore guard Jay Health, who have been suspended by the PAC-12 Conference for verbally confronting officials after Saturday's 79-76 loss at Stanford, Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff announced Sunday.
According to the conference, Hurley has been publicly reprimanded and fined $20,000 in addition to the suspension. The conference said that proceeds from the fine will go toward the Pac-12 student-athlete scholarship fund.
Heath also was reprimanded and suspended for confronting the referees and for making contact with an official.

A second Sun Devils' player, junior Jalen Graham, has been publicly reprimanded by the conference for verbally confronting an official, though he was not suspended.
"The actions of the head coach and student-athletes were in clear violation of the conference's standards of conduct, and will not be tolerated," Kliavkoff said in a statement. "The Pac-12 and its membership has established regulations requiring all institutional personnel, especially head coaches, to conduct themselves in a sporting manner, and those involved in this situation failed to meet those standards."

Arizona State has not announced who will take charge of the team for tonight's game in Los Angeles, which is scheduled for 9 p.m. Mountain. Hurley's assistant coaches are: Joel Justus, Jermaine Kimbrough and George Aramide.
According to ESPN, Hurley was angry about officiating decisions throughout Saturday's game. He initially complained about his team attempting just one free throw in the first half, and he received a technical foul for arguing 30 seconds in the second half.
Hurley's frustration boiled over late in the game, ESPN reported, when Stanford's Brandon Angel was fouled on a 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left. Angel hit all three free throws.
In the game, Stanford shot 41 free throws, hitting 32. Arizona State went just 7-for-9 from the free-throw line.
With the loss, the Sun Devils dropped to 6-10 overall, 2-4 in the Pac-12.
Heath, who is out Monday, is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 9.9 points per game.
