ASU Officer Hit In Head With Glass Bottle, 1 Person Arrested

TEMPE, AZ — An Arizona State University police officer and an aide were injured following an arrest near the downtown campus on Monday.

According to police, the suspect, who is not affiliated with the university, hit the officer in the head with a bottle. The officer and a responding aide sustained cuts from broken glass at the scene of the arrest.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody. His charges include aggravated assault and resisting arrest, police said.

He was later transported to the Mesa Police Department for an active warrant out of that jurisdiction.
