ASU Police Investigating 2nd Sexual Assault In One Week

The Arizona State University Police Department is investigating another sexual assault on the Tempe campus, after one occurred Oct. 6.

TEMPE, AZ — Arizona State University police officers are investigating a sexual assault, reported just days after a previous case earlier this month though the two cases are not believed to be related.

The ASU Police Department said in a news release that a sexual assault occurred near the school's Tempe campus Friday but was reported Saturday.

"The suspect followed the victim from the light rail station, and when she tried to evade him, he grabbed her and engaged in sexual activity without her consent," the department said in a statement.

Officials said the victim is not affiliated with the university and the suspect is not believed to be affiliated either, but the incident occurred in the ASU Police Department jurisdiction since the victim attempted to evade her attacker on campus.

A search is on for the suspect, who was described as a light-skinned male with a bald head and short mustache. He was last seen wearing a dirty white shirt and jeans. The victim said he was around 5 feet and 10 inches tall, and walked with a limp.
