ASU Police Officer Dies In Motorcycle Crash
A 13-year veteran of the Arizona State University Police Department has died after he sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle crash.
TEMPE, AZ — An Arizona State University police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash near Mill and Southern Avenues Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The Tempe Police Department said in a news release that officers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a car just before 4 p.m. Officials said the motorcycle was heading north on Mill when the car turned left in front of it. Speed is believed to be a factor in the collision.
The ASU Police Department confirmed Thursday morning that the motorcyclist was Officer Joseph Montgomery. Montgomery died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

According to a tweet from the department, Montgomery was a 13-year veteran on the force. He is survived by his wife and four children.
Tempe police said an investigation is underway. The driver of the car was not injured in the crash.
