Cantina, Sports Bar To Fill Adjacent Suites In Tempe This Spring

Anoche Cantina and six40rty will fill the Mill Avenue address previously home to El Hefe and Dierks Bentley's. Both also will be nightclubs.

TEMPE, AZ —Bellevue, Washington-based Ascend Hospitality Group (AGH) confirmed Wednesday that it will be opening two new restaurants in Tempe: Anoche Cantina and six40rty.

Both restaurants are "original concepts" —not chains —and an AGH spokesperson said they are targeting late spring for the opening.

The establishments will be going into adjacent suites at 640 S. Mill Ave address —on the southwest corner of Mill Avenue and Sixth Street —that previously was home to El Hefe (will become Anoche Cantina) and Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row (will become six4orty).

According to AGH, Anoche Cantina will be a modern cantina and nightclub with an innovative food and beverage program separated into "logo" and "classico" categories. There also will be an interactive, build-your-own margarita bar.

"Guests are invited to saver Latin-inspired dishes and sip craft cocktails in a sexy atmosphere by day, and party the night away with a best-in-class bottle service program after the sun sets," AGH said in a release about the restaurant.

Six4orty, meanwhile, will be an upscale sports bar and nightclub featuring a 10,000-square-foot outdoor patio, where guests can watch sports and play lawn games.

The menu will include "elevated" bar snacks, burger slider stacks and other "witty" menu items and cocktails, according to AGH.

After dark, the space will transform into an "ambiance-heavy" indoor-outdoor nightclub with DJs and bottle service.

"We couldn't be more excited to bring these original concepts to Tempe, and breathe new life into the restaurant and nightclub scene of Mill Avenue," said Elaina Morris, the president and CEO of AHG. "The support we've seen from the city and people so far has been huge, and we are honored to join this thriving community."

AGH is a Black-and female-led, locally owned, independent restaurant group, which has a collection of concepts ranging from fine dining to fast-casual, according to company literature.
