Loop 101 Temporarily Closed In Tempe Due To Car Fire

A Tempe car fire temporarily closed down the Loop 101 freeway Tuesday afternoon near the Price Road exit.

TEMPE, AZ — A car fire in Tempe closed down the Loop 101 freeway, forcing all traffic to exit at Broadway Road.

A serious car accident resulted in a large fire around noon, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The accident impacted cars traveling northbound and southbound on the Loop 101 near Price Road.

The southbound lanes, which were initially closed due to the amount of smoke in the air, reopened just after 12:30 p.m. The northbound lanes remain closed, according to the transportation department.
