Deadly 3-Vehicle Crash Closes US 60 At Mill Avenue In Tempe

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends exiting at Loop 101 or earlier.

TEMPE, AZ — A three-vehicle crash that left one woman dead and another person seriously injured closed U.S. 60 at Mill Avenue in Tempe Monday afternoon.

The Arizona Department of Transportation strongly recommended that drivers on U.S. 60 exit at Loop 101 or earlier.

The woman who died in the crash was in her 70s but has not been publicly identified. Another person suffered life-threatening injuries, and two more have minor injuries from the crash, according to a news release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened when a Kia Sorrento with New Mexico plates headed west on U.S. 60 near Priest hit the center wall head-on and rolled, according to the news release. Part of the wreckage from the Kia landed on a Tesla and then a pickup truck hit both the Kia and the Tesla.

The woman who died was a passenger in the Kia, and the person with life-threatening injuries was driving the Kia, according to the Department of Public Safety.
