New Tempe City Council Committees Offer Room For Community Input
The Tempe City Council is re-establishing committees in order to offer the community more opportunities to become involved in city issues.
TEMPE, AZ — The Tempe City Council has re-established its committees in order to create more opportunities for the public to be involved in working through larger community issues, the city said.
The new committees are: Human Services and Community Safety Committee, co-chaired by Councilmembers Doreen Garlid and Joel Navarro, Sustainable and Livable Communities Committee, co-chaired by Councilmembers Jennifer Adams and Lauren Kuby, and the Workforce Readiness and Economic Vitality Committee, co-chaired by Vice Mayor Randy Keating and Councilmember Robin Arredondo-Savage.
Tempe Mayor Corey Woods will be able to serve as a member on any committee.

“Reinstating council committees provides a great opportunity for councilmembers to work on issues that they have a passion for and want to see accelerated," Woods said in a statement. "This process also provides the public further access to their elected officials. I look forward to seeing the recommendations that come out of the committees.”
Committee members develop annual work plans that are eventually considered by the entire council. Once plans are approved, committees will meet once a month to determine how to accomplish their goals.
