Tempe Fire Department Auctioning Off Its Scuba Diving Gear
If you're in the market for scuba diving equipment and don't mind getting it secondhand, then the Tempe Fire Department have a deal for you.
TEMPE, AZ — Are you in the market for a full set of scuba diving gear so you can explore the underwater depths of Tempe Town Lake or other nearby waterways?
Well, if so, then the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department has an auction for you.
That's because the department is auctioning off its secondhand diving equipment to the general public from now through May 7, the city said.

Whether you're an avid scuba diver or the first-time underwater explorer, the city's auction represents a substantial bargain over market equipment prices.
That's because the city's auction, which has a starting price of $750, is a much cheaper alternative than buying items individually.

The average scuba diving wetsuit or drysuit alone runs from $70 to more than $2,500, according to ScubaDiving.com.
Add in flippers (which run between $75-$250), scuba mask ($50-$200), life support equipment ($350->$1,000), and the department's auction price looks more and more affordable.
