TEMPE, AZ — Tempe's full-day preschool program is now accepting applications for scholarships for the upcoming school year.

The program, called Tempe PRE, is open to all students aged 3 and 4 who are potty trained and eligible to enroll in preschool, a city news release said.

There are full and half scholarships available to families who qualify.

Families who make at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level qualify for full scholarships of $750 per month.

Tempe families with an income 200 to 300 percent of the federal poverty level qualify for half scholarships, which are $375 per month, the city said.

The decision process for the scholarships will come down to a lottery. Those who are selected will be notified in April.

Those paying the full $750 per month cost of attendance will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

The Tempe PRE program is open to 200 children, split among seven schools in the Tempe Elementary School District, with extended care available at select sites at the conclusion of the school day.
