Tempe Starting Construction on Priest Drive Roundabout

The city of Tempe will begin construction on a new roundabout at Priest Drive and Grove Parkway on Monday, April 5.

TEMPE, AZ — A new roundabout project at Grove Parkway and Priest Drive in Tempe is kicking off April 5.

The project will shut down northbound Priest Drive between Grove Parkway and Todd Drive, with southbound lanes remaining open, the city said.

In addition, local bus route 56 will be detoured during the project and business access will be maintained.

The construction project is part of Tempe's Vision Zero Action Plan, which is a traffic safety policy that aims at reducing the city's serious and fatal collisions to zero over time.

The roundabout will take approximately four months to finish, with some turning movements being restricted while the project unfolds, according to the city.

The new intersection will include landscaping and streetlights, in addition to ADA, bicycle and pedestrian improvements.
