Tempe Will Hold A Community Food And Supply Drive On Saturday
Organized by Tempe Neighborhoods Together, the event will benefit four local nonprofits that serve individuals, families and pets in need.
TEMPE, AZ —A Community Food and Supply Drive will take place Saturday in Tempe where items like perishable food, feminine hygiene supplies and pet food will be collected for families in need.
The drive-thru event will last from noon to 4 p.m. at the Pyle Adult Recreation Center parking lot, located at 655 E. Southern Ave. The drive is organized by Tempe Neighborhoods Together (TNT) and the City of Tempe, and it will support four partner agencies:
- Tempe Community Action Agency —A food pantry helping seniors, adults and children that currently serves one out of seven people in Tempe.
- Aris Foundation —Helps the food insecure
- Lost Our Home —Provides services for pets and pet owners in crisis
- Women4Women — Helps women acquire feminine hygiene products
According to organizers, last year's drive brought in 4,100 pounds of food and pet food, 6,000 feminine hygiene items and $700 in monetary donations.

"People should not have to worry about food," said Judy Tapscott, a member of TNT's food drive planning committee. "The impact of the coronavirus has made things worse. Heavy demands on our partner agencies have diminished supplies quickly. Tempe neighbors can make a big impact, and this is an easy way to do it."
