The dispute comes as questions grow over how local public schools are managing money amid statewide debates about school funding and choice programs.
   

• Mom accused of child abuse, assault after kid found hurt at Tolleson home (azfamily.com) — Tolleson police arrested a local mother after a welfare check at a home near 92nd Avenue and Roosevelt Street led officers to find one child with visible injuries and concerns about neglect of three young children. All of the kids were evaluated by paramedics, with at least one taken to the hospital, and the mother was booked into Maricopa County jail while the investigation continues.
