TUCSON, AZ — A speeding 30-year-old hit-and-run driver is now in jail, accused of causing a four-vehicle collision in Tucson Wednesday that left one driver dead. Tucson Police Department Sergeant Pete Dugan reported that the speeding driver, Matthew Gallaher, was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck around 12:30 p.m. when he rear-ended a green Toyota Tundra pickup truck headed east on 22nd halfway between Wilmot and Craycroft roads.

The Tundra, driven by 60-year-old Beverly Jones, spun out of control after being struck by Gallaher’s truck. The spinning Tundra then hit a raised median and flipped into the median. The Tundra then ended up in the westbound traffic lanes and was hit by two more vehicles.

Gallaher drove away from the scene and abandoned his truck a few blocks away.
