A man arrested on charges of stealing the vehicle of a missing Oro Valley man is now a person of interest in the Pima Canyon remains case.

TUCSON, AZ — A man arrested on auto theft charges Friday night has also been named a person of interest in the case of the human remains eaten by mountain lions at the Pima Canyon Trail near Tucson Monday. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office reported that Daylan Jacob Thornton, 21, was arrested Friday around 8 p.m. for allegedly stealing a vehicle owned by Steven Mark Brashear. Oro Valley Police have been on the lookout for Brashear since he was reported missing in December.
Though authorities are still actively working to identify the remains, Thornton is now a person of interest in the case, the sheriff’s office said.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who has information on this case to call 911, or call 88-CRIME to stay anonymous.
