AZ Monsoon Comes To End: Tucson Could Tack More Rain Onto Total
This season in Tucson has been a particularly wet one.
TUCSON, AZ — There was a chance of rain Thursday in Tucson, capping off a particularly wet monsoon.
There was a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday in Tucson, with an expected high of 83 degrees.
As of Thursday morning, the city's rainfall total for the 2021 monsoon was 12.78 inches, more than double the average of 5.69. If Tucson doesn't receive any more measurable rain on Thursday that would make 2021 its third-wettest monsoon on record, according to the National Weather Service.

Even with the abnormal rainfall this year, the Tucson area is still in abnormally dry to moderate drought status, the weather service said.
This year's monsoon was a big change from 2020, the second-driest season on record with a meager 1.62 inches of rain.
