AZ Monsoon: Thunderstorm, Flood Warnings Issued For Tucson; NWS

A pair of warnings are effect for Tucson, the National Weather Service said. Here's what to know about the storm.

TUCSON, AZ — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for much of the Tucson metropolitan area until 5 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

Additionally, a flash flood warning for Tucson, Catalina Foothills and Tanque Verde is in effect until 7:45 p.m., the service said.

The storms, which are capable of dropping quarter-sized hail and 60 MPH winds, are moving rapidly from west to east.

Areas impacted by the line of storms include the Tucson city limits, as well as Catalina Foothills and South Tucson, the service said.

More storms are expected to form overnight and through the next two days, the service said, with upwards of five inches of rain expected in the city, with a chance of eight inches of rain falling in the Catalina and Rincon mountains.
