A Bighorn Sheep Is On A Big Walk Toward The Tucson Mountains
A bighorned sheep nicknamed "Ramblin Ram" is on a big journey around Tuscon, covering more than 100 miles.
TUCSON, AZ — Attention, sheeple of Tucson: A remarkably well-traveled bighorn sheep has been spotted in the midst of a journey outside his usual territory. Officials with the Arizona Game and Fish Department call him Ramblin' Ram.
And ramble he has: First spotted in last month, the young bighorn sheep has charted a course that, according to state game officials, no ram has gone before.
"Young rams love to roam before the rut," the department noted in a May 13 Facebook post, which marked the first photographed sighting of the horned traveler as he passed through the Perro Celon subdivision west of Interstate 19 in Tubac.

While young rams are known to wander in the Tucson Mountains, "none [are] known to cross the Ajo Way before, which this ram may have done," the department's Facebook post said.
Two weeks later, on May 28, the horned hiker was was spotted some 60 miles away, near the Colossal Cave Mountain Park, on an apparent trajectory for the Tucson Mountains. To date, the ram has covered more 100 miles after leaving his home in the Silverbell Mountains.
