Black Bear Spotted In Catalina Foothills: AZ Fish And Game Department

The bear has been spotted near Tucson twice so far this week, but officials say it does not seem menacing.

TUCSON, AZ — A bear has been spotted in the Catalina Foothills area twice so far this week, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department in Tucson.

The bear was last seen at 2:11 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Craycroft Road and East Glenn Street, the department said. The bear might be young, and reddish-brown, the department said. The bear seams to be using Rillito Wash to navigate the area, but the department had not been able to locate the animal as of early Tuesday afternoon. It was first spotted in the area Sunday near North Campbell Avenue and East River Road.

The bear does not seem menacing, and appears to be scared of people, but the department still called its presence in the populated area concerning. Anyone who spots the bear is asked to call 623-236-7201.
